NetBait Demo System Setup

Each configured NetBait Host requires its own computer. It is up to you how many NetBait Hosts to install and where to place them on your network.

There are no specific hardware or software requirements. The only thing you need is a working computer (386 will do) with a 1.44 MB floppy drive, 16+ MB RAM (32 MB tested), a network card and TCP/IP Internet connectivity. Practically any computer up to five years old may be seamlessly transformed into a NetBait Host without any hardware or software preparation. You do not need to attach any peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc.) to your NetBait Host. If you attach a monitor, you will be able to follow NetBait MSS performance in real time.

The number of NetBait Hosts depends on the following three variables:

  1. If the global network consists of several physically separated sub-networks and you want NetBait Nodes on more than one segment, then it would be necessary to configure another NetBait Host(s).
  2. The dynamic behavior of IP addresses is based on the NetBait Host configuration. Therefore, same Host-assigned IP addresses display similar elements when scanned, which is resolved by strategically placing them throughout your network. If, however, you want to have multiple behavioral patterns for your IP addresses, then another Host would be an easy and affordable solution.
  3. NetBait Host supports up to the maximum number of IP addresses in our demo package. If the number of desired IP addresses exceeds this limit, then it would be necessary to configure another Host. Additional IP addresses are used to create fake targets on your network.

Public IP addresses are NOT included with your NetBait MSS. These must be obtained from your ISP.

To setup your you NetBait Host, you have to register for your NetBait MSS Demo account. After registration you will find more help files and support information in the NetBait MSS environment.
